COMMUNICATIONS
TRAINEE (ENTRY LEVEL): $20.58 - $21.62/hr*
(As of July 1, 2011)
If you do not have the required experience to apply for Dispatcher 1 (see below), you should apply as a Communications Dispatcher Trainee. Once training is completed in call taking, law dispatch and fire dispatch, Communications Trainees are reclassified as Communications Dispatcher 1 with that pay range.

COMMUNICATIONS DISPATCHER 1 (LATERAL): $23.70 - $29.85/hr*

You MUST have a minimum of 2 years trained experience in law, fire and medical dispatching and call taking to qualify for a Communications Dispatcher 1 position. Two years trained experience means that you've worked at least two years after completing training and you have at least 6 months experience each in call taking, law dispatch and fire/ems dispatch.
If you do not meet the minimum qualifications for Communications Dispatcher 1, you are encouraged to apply for Communications Trainee.

We are seeking candidates who have outstanding communication skills especially with distraught customers, possess the ability to determine priorities and make critical decisions promptly, and who are efficient and accurate with multi-tasking. Emergency dispatch work is frequently intense and demanding, requiring working weekends, holidays and rotating evening, night, and day work schedules. A rigorous, paid training program is provided for new hires. The schedule for fully trained dispatchers is 4 days on – 4 days off.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED
Must be at least 18 yrs of age
Successful score on Ergometrics Video Test
Successful score on Criticall Test
Pass a pre-offer, non-medical suitibility screening test.
Pass extensive background check
Pass post conditional offer psychological and physical exam

About C-COM: Clackamas County Central Communications, also known as C-COM, is the central dispatch center for multiple public safety agencies within the County. The Center provides 24-hour primary answering and dispatch for 15 agencies, including 6 law enforcement agencies and 9 fire and medical service providers. Our dispatchers use an Enhanced 9-1-1 system with a progressive Computer Aided Dispatch system. The Center serves a population of approximately 300,000 and each month handles an average of 35,000 E9-1-1 & 10-digit public safety phone calls, 20,000 police incidents and 2,000 Fire/Emergency Medical Service (EMS) incidents.
